Course
- Art Classes at St Francis Youth and Community Centre include a range of supported personal projects. These may include personal studies, reproductions of classic art or pet portraits
- Develop freehand drawing & use proportional and observational techniques, including a grid system to plan your portrait
- You will be introduced to shading, layering and blending techniques (this includes colour theory and paint mixing) to produce a realistic portrait, including tips and tools required to produce a photo-real portrait
- Support with independent projects, including one to one tutoring and feedback, including demonstrations to understand the process of building up a portrait from initial sketch to completion
- Taught media includes graphite, coloured pencils, pastels and acrylics. For those interested in oil painting, contact Milan for upcoming ‘Paint like…’ courses, reproducing a classic or contemporary portrait
- Resources included (dry media / wet media, pencils and brushes, drawing papers, including white and toned)
- For students who would like to purchase their own resources to bring and use, scroll down for a gallery of suggested art resources

Cancellations due to low numbers
In the instance that a course isn’t able to run due to low numbers, the tutor will update students and offer an alternative date to roll the booking onto.
Student cancellations
If a student is unable to attend a booked class, they will be offered a chance to catch up on a Zoom class. See ‘Friday Art Night on Zoom’ tab for more information.
