The heart of the Cotswolds, Bourton-on-the-Water is famed for its charming honey-coloured stone architecture and idyllic village scenes with five iconic stone bridges . Built between 1654 and 1911, the bridges are constructed from local Cotswold stone and give the village its nickname of ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’.
Bourton-on-the-Water’s most prized feature is the tranquil River Windrush. Spanning from Taddington around 10 miles away, the river meanders for 35 miles to Newbridge in Oxfordshire where it flows into the River Thames.
