Class Essentials

1. What do I need before I join?
✏️ Mixed grade pencils, drawing paper and standard stationery (rubber, sharpener, ruler) will be suitable. For further advice on specialist materials, contact Milan

2. What will we do?
✏️ Develop freehand drawing & use proportional and observational techniques, including how to use a grid system to plan your portrait
👩🏽‍🎨 You will be introduced to shading, layering and blending techniques to produce a highly realistic portrait, including tips and tools required to produce a photo-real portrait
🖼️ One to one tutoring and feedback, including demonstrations to understand the process of building up a portrait from initial sketch to completion
🖍️ Taught media will predominantly be graphite, with an overview including coloured pencils, soft pastels and acrylics
✅ Support with independent projects. These may include personal studies / reproductions of classic art

3. What if I am a complete beginner?
🤷🏽‍♀️ Students will join in a supportive, relaxed environment including improvers and above who continue self-led studies; demonstrations and continuous one-to-one feedback are angled towards students of all levels and there will be lots of tips to learn during the classes

5. About the Tutor
👨🏻‍🎨 Milan is a portrait artist and illustrator based in Birmingham. Milan has delivered drawing courses as a tutor a mac Birmingham, Barber Institute of Fine Arts and wellbeing classes at Selfridges and Resorts World Birmingham. During his career, Milan has produced portraits which featured on limited edition vinyl art for Florence + the Machine and Ladyhawke. He recently oil-painted a wedding portrait for former UFC champion Michael Bisping.
