The design takes the crowning feature of a mural displayed at High St, Droitwich Spa, celebrating the career of Rik Mayall during the inaugural comedy festival in summer 2025. Remember the historic event with a full colour, portrait of the Pan Global Phenomenon: Rik Mayall. The crown, decorative vines and 5 mantras framing the illustration are accented with gold foiling in the print edition.
Surrounded by 5 inspirational mantras to life presented to an audience during his 2008 graduation speech - equality, freedom, love, opportunity and wisdom - Rik Mayall's regal robes are also adorned with the colours of his graduation robes. Reminiscent of a traditional royal portrait set into coins and stamps, Mayall is crowned as the King of Comedy through a sensitively created image, set in profile like a romanticised Mucha painting. Within the decorated vines sits both the respective flowers of Droitwich and Worcestershire: the butterwort and cowslip.
